Wander More, Wonder More

Updated: Jul 29

"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort." J.R.R. Tolkien

I have always loved those words. There is something about them that speaks to the heart - the love of home, the simple joys, the warmth of familiar walls. I, too, have my own hobbit-hole. Not underground, but a place that is mine, filled with comfort, stories, and quiet cups of coffee.

As one chapter of my story comes to a close, I feel that familiar tug. The same pull that once coaxed Bilbo out of his door and Frodo onto the road. Like them, I cherish my home, my meandering walks through green places, my peaceful routines. Yet, I am also drawn to the road, to the adventure beyond the garden gate, to the wide and wonderful world waiting to be discovered.

I wish I could tell you I am setting out with a band of dwarves, an elf or two, perhaps even a wise old wizard to guide me. In truth, my company is a modest one - myself, the occasional fellow hobbit, and you, dear reader, who will travel alongside me through these words and wandering tales.

So here it is…

I am going on an adventure!
